Encouragement

Keynote speeches by renowned visionaries opened the Congress on the Future, setting the stage for the intensive “limit experiments” to come in the workshops:

  • Prof. Dr. h.c. Ludwig Georg Braun

  • Prof. Dr. Birger Priddat
    Zeppelin University, Friedrichshafen; Economist and Advocate of Educational Reform
  • Dr. Heiko Roehl
    Consultant at the Nelson Mandela Foundation, author and lecturer on knowledge organization
  • Christian Schneijderberg
    Political Secretary of the Association of Swiss General Student Committees

In addition, other well-known personalities, including numerous alumni of the University of Freiburg, contributed their ideas at the workshops.

The Congress on the Future ended 550 years to the day after the University of Freiburg received its foundation charter. The setting in which the results of the workshops were presented to numerous additional invited guests, students, and employees of the university was correspondingly festive. The highlights included:

  • A commemorative speech by Prof. Dr. Hubert Burda
    Member of the Executive Board of Hubert Burda Media and Publisher
  • Discussion of and reflection on the results of the Congress on the Future by Minister Prof. Dr. Peter Frankenberg,
    Minister of Science, Research, and the Arts of the State of Baden-Württemberg
  • Premier presentation of the 14:57 silent film project with live orchestral accompaniment and renewal of the coalition between the university, the state, and the city
  • Experimental presentation of results in real and virtual worlds in the Humboldt Laboratory with pneumatic art sculptures by Bettina Bürkle and Klaus Illi
